Abstract: Real-time multi-cellular in vivo microscopy is critical in cancer therapy. Here, we present a 36×40 pixel prototype for an implantable imaging system in 0.18µm CMOS for wireless fluorescence microscopy at a 2cm depth. To provide power for the 78mW laser diode and the 0.26mW image sensor during a 64ms integration time via ultrasound (US), the imaging interval is duty-cycled by 0.04% within a 150.5 s measurement cycle. A 11.52kbit image is captured and transmitted via US backscatter.
